CAREER DESIGNS SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT (CDSE)
Purpose:
To provide supported employment opportunities so that individuals can be helped to maintain their job in the community.
Individuals Served:
- Adults with severe and persistent mental illness
- Adults with developmental disabilities and emotional or behavioral challenges
- Adults with both disorders
- Transitioning youth
- Adults with physical disabilities that create impairments to work
- Adults who present complex needs that may inhibit their success while participating in welfare to work program.
Program:
Provides community-based competitive and supportive employment placements that match the client’s interests, values, and skill level.
Services: The sequence and duration of specific services is determined according to the specific needs of the client. Services include:
Career Planning
- Identification of work preferences-“career path”
- Develop skills for “career ladder”
- Work adjustment training
- Employer expectations
- Punctuality
- Constructive criticism
- Supervision
- Job development
- Target appropriate jobs in specific industries and match to client’s skills, interests, and assessments
- Design reasonable work accommodations when appropriate
- Support and negotiate salary and benefits
- CDSE
- Mentoring
- Job Coaching
- One-on-one and group support at job site

Employer consultation that complements a company’s training to aid in better job performance and placement success

Support groups after-work forums for clients to discuss concerns and share successes by providing a supportive network, enhanced learning opportunities, and reduced isolation

Long-term support is available on an as-need basis
Staffing
Master’s and bachelor’s level professionals with extensive experience and training in all aspects of employment services.
Hours of operations:
Services are available during the client’s working schedule as well as the typical workday.

Fees:
Services may be covered by:
- The Developmental Disabilities Administration
- The Department of Rehabilitation Services
- Maryland Medical Assistance
- Private pay
